Healthcare facilities are particularly complex building types. Woodhead holds vast experience in health related design, not only providing functional accommodation but creating places that enable people to engage within their work and social environments. We look for opportunities to stimulate an individual's subconscious emotional response in order to gain positive reinforcement from these built spaces.
Woodhead believe that investment in life-enhancing health care design is beneficial to both clients and healthcare providers alike. It is possible, yet also medically and financially wise, that a health facility have a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of clients, their families, staff and the community as a whole.
The underlying delivery-of-care philosophy should not be separated from the design of the physical environment in which it operates. Woodhead approach the design of new aged care facilities by balancing the need to cater for varying levels of assistance required by residents with daily-living tasks and personal care regimes. Environmental supports are incorporated into the design in a manner that provides maximum dignity for residents. Woodhead aim to provide aged care facilities in de-institutionalised, domestic-scale, homelike and enabling environments which encourage independence and a sense of well-being.
Woodhead does not believe in ‘standard’ solutions and we approach projects on the basis that the buildings are unique expressions of the specific functions that they are to accommodate and the site on which they are located. We are committed to an architectural expression that is human in scale, efficient without being mechanistic, and integrated into its environment and the community.
