This exemplary $120m conversion of the former Hotel Adelaide into Place on Brougham apartment complex is Adelaide’s newest benchmark for luxury apartments in North Adelaide.
Place on Brougham features 98 apartments of varying sizes each with views over the Adelaide Oval, parklands, city and hills beyond.
Collaboration with internationally acclaimed French interior designer Andree Putman for the design of the interior lobby, pool and day spa areas creates an elegant and modern feel.
The apartment interiors are simple and timeless incorporating high quality natural stones and designer fittings. The design of each level of the 10 storey building focuses primarily on orientation to the expansive views to the city and Adelaide Hills. Apartments themselves are designed to provide for two clearly separate zones of bedrooms either side of large open plan living, dining and kitchen areas directly connected to balconies.
The building design is based on the original 1960’s structural grid with both the new and the old structures being expressed in the facades. Particular attention is paid to the incorporation of a human scale base to the building. This takes the form of a strong horizontal podium in charcoal coloured pre-cast concrete, with a texture that makes reference to the bluestone character prevalent in the locality.
Place on Brougham provided a unique opportunity to convert a tired under-utilised hotel into a highly prestigious apartment building that has become one of Adelaide’s best addresses.
