The Woodhead designed offices for KPMG Adelaide accommodate more than 230 staff in a total office space of 3850m². Woodhead undertook a rigorous consultation process with KPMG Partners and staff to unlock the potential of their new workplace. The relocation was as an opportunity to reposition their brand in the Adelaide marketplace.
Fundamental to the design was access to natural light and views in all the community spaces and staff workstation areas. The colours, materials and finishes reflect the KPMG brand as well as highlight a local influence with the use of copper and locally sourced materials.
The interior design features modular, flexible planning with glass partitioning, generous corridors, travertine floors to reflect light plus direct access to large balcony areas on the client level. The interiors are designed to reflect the outward looking, transparent and communicative values of the organisation whilst providing a more open work environment.
The outcome focuses on a professional organisation. With an extensively open plan environment, 120 degree work settings for the individual are adaptable, responsive and team oriented. The result is an informal environment with the emphasis on teamwork rather than traditional structures.
The flexible workstations are highlighted with shades of KPMG’s ‘living blue’ logo, including carpets, upholstery and glass tinting. Timber floors have been used in the community areas to achieve a warmer, more homelike environment.
