health facilities for 20,000 students and staff. The project work included the masterplan and design for the new complex.
The design unites building structures with open spaces and landscaping to provide a formal approach and focal entry statement within a ceremonial entrance boulevard. Numerous forecourts, connecting covered walkways, and courtyards merge the existing and new buildings.
Project design and management initiatives resulted in an extraordinary sense of ownership of the John Curtin Centre by the University community as well as pronounced interaction with the general public, visitors and business community.
The project has been extremely successful for Curtin University resulting in a new ‘gateway symbol’ for the campus and has received seven civic design and construction awards.
The new facilities include:
- executive administration
- commercial and conference facilities
- campus medical centre providing emergency outpatient, and allied health and counselling services to staff and students
- John Curtin Prime Ministerial Library and Art Galleries
- bookshop, café and forum.
