The 313-room hotel will feature an executive lounge on the 12th floor along with a business centre, 450 sq. m ballroom, meeting facilities and 96 parking bays. There will be a fitness centre, spa, lobby bar and lounge as well.
Woodhead’s design process for the interiors of this project began with the sharp geometry, cool curves and effortless marriage of style and function synonymous with the Art Deco period of the 1930’s. Research on the furniture, styles and techniques of Art Deco proved it to be a fitting choice of reference for the design of Hongqiao Park Plaza, especially when coupled with the design requirements and guest demographic.
Developing the principles and aesthetic of this period further, the resulting interior design is based on a ‘new Art Deco’ style for the Park Plaza where the simplification of forms, artistic interpretation of patterning, strategic use of a bold colour palette and emphasis on function combine to offer a hotel experience perfectly suited to the business traveller and short-stay tourist.
Through the use of sculptural furniture and considered layout in the public areas, the interior space remains sleek and uncluttered. Communal tables establish an interesting, intimate and creative appeal while still meeting the minimum seating requirement.
The project prioritises ecologically sustainable materials with an emphasis on new types of materials and finishes in order to reinvent the materials traditionally used. Latest technology and interactive devices enhance the user experience and are specifically targeted at the discerning business traveller.
