Woodhead has completed the masterplanning, design and development of upgrade works to the existing Bassendean railway station including new bus interchange facilities, platform extension and extended parking facilities.
The masterplan provides for three access options, developed in full discussion with Westrail, MRD and Bassendean Council; an underpass, overpass and on grade crossing. This resolved key access issues across Guildford Road to connect the station with the existing Old Perth Road mall.
The design team integrated local pedestrian routes and bike routes into the new facility. town planning considerations such as public safety, passenger drop-off and kiss ‘n’ ride facilities are also addressed. The structure incorporates a maintenance platform for cleaning the glass, allow ventilation and keep public away from the glass.
