Rose Park Dental
Rose Park, South Australia
Woodhead has a long established relationship with the practitioners at Rose Park Dental, having designed their original surgery some 10 years earlier. The previous premises had stood the test of time but had not kept pace with the growth of the practice and the number of new practice partners. It is testament to the success of the first surgery that Woodhead was instantly commissioned to relocate the practice to larger premises down the road.
The site on Kensington Road contained an historic Adelaide Victorian house. However, the building had become disused and run down and was no longer desirable as a residence.
The project provided significant challenges in the conversion to a dental surgery. The new carpark located at the rear of the site required the need to organise an entry point at the rear. The building was extended at the back to provide larger organisational spaces, including waiting areas and administration areas.
The traditional rooms of the original house, however, were easily converted to dental consulting and surgery rooms with internal training areas upstairs.
The overall result is a very successful adaptive reuse of the site and buildings. The entire grounds were landscaped to soften approaches and paths. The original and new partners are extremely happy with the overall result.
