Banyule Community Health Centre

West Heidelberg, Victoria

The design of the new two storey facility was based on a simplified approach to ensure ease of access by the public to the wide range of services including medical, dental, physiotherapy, podiatry, speech pathology, occupational therapy and counselling rooms.

The $11.5 million development is located on the former 1956 Melbourne Olympics Village site and replaces the former 50 year old Administration Centre buildings.

The centre is divided into five main functional areas linked by two internal streets and a lift. The internal streets provide primary access to the centres various services as well as access to natural light.

Environmentally Sustainable Design has been incorporated such as solar efficient building orientation, external shading for glazed areas, optimum thermal insulation and a centralised air conditioning plant.
