Edith Cowan Universitys (ECU) strategic plan involves the relocation of the academic activities from the Churchlands campus to the Mt Lawley and Joondalup Campuses. A key element to this strategy has been the provision of a major new Lecture Theatre and Forum. This innovative project, incorporating an external forecourt, exhibition foyer, 376 tiered seats and amenities provides the latest in teaching and learning spaces with full video capture and streaming output

Woodhead, in collaboration with ECU, have designed the spaces to be exciting, varied and enlivening the student social and academic activities. The building has been carefully positioned to create a protected courtyard that is attractive and convenient for community interaction on the Campus.
The expansive glazed foyer is integral with the external forum resulting in spaces that facilitate a variety of use our focus was on architecture that fosters learning areas and outdoor spaces to be highly flexible, engaging, self directed and collaborative.
The form follows the function it signifies a bold aesthetic and innovative metaphor for a visual impact and character befitting a modern progressive University.
