Edith Cowan University - Building 3, Mt Lawley Campus
Perth, Western Australia
Woodhead reviewed spatial requirements and allocations for Student Central Services and the subsequent impact on student movement patterns. Design studies included provision of new protected walkways.
The relocation is designed to activate existing courtyards and form a new hub linking various external spaces and adjacent facilities. The scope included Woodhead making an inspection of the Campus to understand the existing buildings, spaces between and circulation path systems.
Design analysis took into account the current Mt Lawley Masterplan. The interior fitout for Student Central Services incorporates a high ratio of open plan to cellular space, where students are encouraged to interact with staff more freely. The cellular spaces such as the Interview Rooms and Cashiers Office still provide necessary privacy for more formal procedures.
The overall design maximises interaction and communication and is presented in a fun and welcoming manner, attracting students from the new courtyard area.
