Pernod Ricard Pacific - Orlando Wydham
Sydney, New South Wales
When the spirit-based company Pernod Ricard merged with wine-makers Orlando Wyndham in 2005, the result was an integration of two distinct areas within the industry, namely the classic and the contemporary. Pernod Ricard Pacific commissioned Woodhead to design the interiors of their new corporate office at North Ryde that is both inviting and convivial whilst also reflecting the union of these industry opposites.
With a tenancy located over three contiguous floors, the incorporation of a focal communication stair was one of the first design elements to be considered. Planning the locations of the reception, main breakout areas and coffee bars across the three floors then become paramount. By concentrating these functions around this focal stair, not only has the stair become fully activated, the chance meeting of staff and their increased internal communication is a direct result of the workplace design.
The client wanted the fitout to reflect the organisations values and promote a proactive, dynamic, successful and convivial business culture. A design concept was developed that would display warmth akin to stylish upmarket bars whilst reinforcing their corporate identity. The bar, breakout area, bar and kitchenette all open off the receptionn area, creating a large space that is alive with the products that make Pernod Ricard the second largest wine and spirits company worldwide.
