Wray and Associates
Perth, Western Australia
Wray and Associates, the oldest patent attorney company in Western Australia, gave Woodhead a brief to create an office environment that was 'conservative yet with a contemporary edge'. Due to a very short lead time, the project was fast tracked to ensure it was designed, documented and built in a rapid 15 week period.
A major feature of the design is the striking 'Blackheart Sassafras' timber veneer wall fittings used in the reception and other key areas of the office. The veneer walls replace the need for artwork and are mounted with special concealed lighting to help accentuate and create an overall warm, inviting mood, whilst providing the perfect abstract to the otherwise clean, white background.
Woodhead helped to create a crisp clean look for the office. Upon entering the reception, visitors are welcomed into a modern, light foyer. The reception openly connects to four meeting rooms but access to all other areas of the office is via discreet security keypads.
Unlike many legal offices the library has been incorporated into the general workings of the office, generating a relaxed working environment and allowing some facilities to have a dual purpose.
The modern staff breakout area is adjacent to the library so that all chairs and tables can be utilised for reading and research while the library's stand-up reading desk doubles as a bar for Friday night drinks or other social functions.
