Sabre Pacific
Sydney, New South Wales
Sabre Pacific is the leading provider of technology, distribution and marketing services for the travel industry. Their office design had to clearly reflect both Sabres corporate philosophy and the importance of technology to their business technology is a journey, lets travel together.
Sabres Sydney offices act as a training centre and call centre for the vast number of travel agents connected to their system, which provides instant access to travel content relating to airlines, hotels, car rental companies and cruise lines. A circle motif is featured on windows of meeting rooms and training areas throughout the office, representing the global nature of Sabres business. The meeting rooms are named with acronyms of international locations.
The major design challenge for the team was to create an efficient and light filled workspace as there were a number of large internal columns and almost half the floorplate had no access to windows and natural light.
The IT training rooms and laboratory did not require direct access to natural light, alleviating the demand on window space. Workstations were located around the office perimeter, with natural light penetration maximised through the use of semitransparent acrylic workstation panels.
An innovative, purpose built water feature highlights the meeting hub area, providing visual stimulus to the surrounding workspaces, and changes colour every half hour. Curtains of water flow across both surfaces of the stunning six metre long glass panel, which is illuminated by fibre optic lighting, to provide a stunning and restful ambience to the adjoining spaces.
