Cap Gemini

Melbourne, Victoria

Cap Gemini wanted to move to larger premises to reflect the merge of the new and old economies that forge their business strategy. The stunning heritage-listed Olderfleet building, which features a tower at the back and a roof garden, provided an ideal destination.

In keeping with the company's philosophy the 'old economy' is defined by the heritage building, which is perfect for client interface activities including corporate entertaining and marketing. The design team emphasised the old world atmosphere by the extensive use of period and ornate plasterwork in cornices, architraves and ceilings.

Conversely the 'new economy' is implemented in the tower which, although joined to the heritage building, features a modern interior reflecting the new technology. Think rooms are connected to the general office areas, easily accessible and constructed mainly from glass.

A key criterion throughout the project was to develop a home base, an environment in which to interact with co-workers and clients, a place to touch down. The Woodhead team have created this environment with the use of bright, bold colours and simplicity of design.

The need to blend the culture throughout the office interior and especially over two levels has been achieved by the integrated internal staircase, which allows for a unified office environment and easy communication between floors.
