Woodhead was invited to take part in a limited design competition for the design of a 10,000sqm commercial building. We were subsequently engaged to provide architectural design, documentation and construction services.

The integration of new entry levels in the base form and generous landscaping provide a welcoming approach for visitors. Curved and blade facade forms synthesise with the adjacent new development to create a cohesive urban environment.

The orientation of the building to the north limits exposure to solar gain with predominately solid east and west facades. Low sun angles are alleviated by the buildings' curved form in conjunction with 'low e' glass.

An efficient building envelope was developed by undertaking studies of the most efficient floor plate area to facade area and assessing the distances between core and facade. Dark vertical mullions were used to minimise visual obstructions and low level perimeter sill maximises the internal light.

Interior design flexibility was created by clean core walls and an assessment of the built form to provide a variety of modular fitout configurations.
