76 Berry Street
North Sydney, New South Wales
The $2.5 million refurbishment to the entrance and foyer of this previously nondescript 1980's building has transformed these areas into a welcoming and contemporary space, bringing the building into the new millennium.
The central aim of the refurbishment was to improve the identity, look and feel of the foyer, creating a 'wow' factor from the street.
The foyer gives the building its signature and must be an inviting space that projects a professional image for tenents and adds positively to the urban fabric of the built environment. The new foyer stands two storeys high, the entry being pronounced with an illuminated archway.
The foyer facade incorporates clear glass panels onto the street, providing an abundance of natural light and a seamless connection between the interior and exterior.
The retail element was added to the foyer with the introduction of a cafe at the northern end, which overlooks an outdoor garden area and creates a pleasant meeting place for workers and passers by.
