Chandigarh Masterplan (mixed-use development)

Woodhead has been appointed as master planner and architect for an 8.5 hectare brownfield site on the outskirts of Chandigarh, Northern India, a city made famous by the town planning of Le Corbusier.
The development will include a new retail mall which will house a hypermarket, two department stores and a three level mall with a cinema complex and major fashion outlets. Upon completion the retail space will amount to 86,000sqm.
The development will also include a new six star hotel, featuring a 12m high banquet hall to hold up to 1000 guests for weddings and large receptions and will also include a high class retail precinct and a large health club and spa. The hotel will also link to a new office building and basement car parking facilities for the development.
This will be the first development of its kind in Northern India and will be a quantum leap forward in providing modern retailing facilities to Chandigarh.
