Cullen Bay Marina

Darwin, Northern Territory

Woodhead was commissioned as architect and design managers for this major marina development which provided a new waterside lifestyle for some 1,500 residents of Darwin, just 1.5 kilometres from the city's central business district.

The Cullen Bay Marina is a fully integrated project involving a substantial private residential precinct, commercial property and retail outlets.

The extensive 'seafaring' facilities including a 140 berth marina, a chandlery, yacht maintenance services, slipways, fuelling and waste pump-out facilities for the marina, a ferry terminal and public car parking.

Set in a tropical area subject to severe cyclones and weather extremes, the design solution counters these natural extremes with the construction of a seawall and a lock, providing a static water level to enable the social amenities of waterside living.

The stylish and serene waterside design theme encapsulates seaside living at its best, and is carried throughout the marina's facilities, hotel, shops, offices, a variety of restaurants and the public boardwalk.
