Forestway Shopping Centre
Frenchs Forest, NSW
The 30-year-old Forestway Shopping Centre was given a $6 million facelift at the end of 2003 in order to revitalise the tired looking centre. The emphasis driving the refurbishment was to provide better customer amenity and a fresher, more contemporary retail environment.
A key feature of the mall upgrade was the development of a 'village' theme. In accordance with this theme, timber battens were added to the bulkheads overhanging the existing shopfronts and on various feature walls throughout the centre.
Tenants have been encouraged to break through the bulkheads, enabling both sides of the mall to become dynamic with a variety of frontages unified by the timber banding in a manner reminiscent of traditional streetscape awning lines.
