Filtronic Asian Regional Headquarters
Murrarrie, Queensland
The Filtronic Group is a global company with manufacturing facilities in Europe, North America and Australia. As designers and manufacturers of complex RF (radio frequency) and microwave products for use in telecommunications systems, their industry is one of electronic technology and science.
Woodhead was commissioned to design new Australian headquarters located at Murrarrie. The design solution conveys the innovation and hi-tech image of Filtronic and serves as a regional showcase for the company.
The building form is generated about three axes, taking full advantage of magnificent views and providing maximum required flexibility in internal layout and purposeful interaction between the design, manufacture, administrative and communal zones, whilst also allowing for a future expansion stage.
Interesting interpretation of inner spatial arrangements has included a two storey atrium over the reception area, and a boardroom on the upper level which is accessed via a bridge across the void.
The company has a high regard for its workforce at all levels and the amenity of the working environment and extended leisure facilities were important considerations; the site being carefully chosen to maximise the opportunity for aligning all these factors.
