Derek is an Architect with over 35 years extensive experience in Australia and Internationally. For the past 15 years, he has worked in Social Architecture predominately on Aged Care and Retirement Living projects and is well known in this industry.
Characteristically, Derek takes a very direct involvement in all his projects and has been responsible as Project Director for briefing, feasibility studies, master planning, design, documentation and contract administration for over 100 aged care projects. Derek believes in a future whereby aged persons will live comfortably in de-institutionalised, domestic-scale, homelike and enabling environments which encourage independence and a sense of well-being. A generational change in residents requires a shift in Design philosophy for future facilities.
