China has the worlds largest elderly population, with 134 million people over 60 years old, a figure that is likely to hit 400 million by the middle of this century.

More than two decades ago, when the nation was still under the planned economy, it was considered a shame to send an older parent to a rest home, which was for those with no family or income. A demand is now evident for facilities that will support the ageing population.

The Silver Hair Retirement Village is one of China's first aged care developments. With a construction area of approximately 150,000sqm, the development includes a nursing home, hostel, individual villas and apartments.

The facility is designed as an integrated community, aimed at older and retired people, where grandparents can look after grandchildren as part of the extended family structure. Central facilities include shops, education facilities for the community and club facilities.
