WA Tourism Commission, Perth

Perth, Western Australia

Woodhead was initially commissioned to develop the brief and prepare an Accommodation Needs Analysis for the Western Australian Tourism Commission. A number of buildings have been analysed and assessed to determine the most effective floorplate option and to identify the building with the best quality of space.

The outcomes of this analysis were presented with vertical stacking and block planning diagrams to visually explain the proposal to the Commission. This analysis was subsequently used as part of a public tender for the consultancy to implement the fitout design.

The fitout has a higher ratio of open plan to cellular space than is typical for a government office. This design will maximise communication and interaction in the office and ensure ultimate flexibility.

A large number of international visitors visit the WATC and the offices must showcase Western Australia. The design concept for the office is to present a sharp and contemporary image to all visitors.

The choice of colours is reflective of the WATC brand and the surrounding state environment water, earth, sun and sky. A multimedia screen is used in the reception area to promote current and future events.
