Rydges Hotel
Perth, Western Australia
Transforming this 1970's Supply House office block into the Rydges Perth Hotel was a remarkable project. Having firstly identified the optimum performance potential of the property, Woodhead recommended the conversion of the old office block into a vibrant hotel.
Ideally located in the centre of the CBD with views across the Swan River, the office block was converted in just 14 months. It now features 243 rooms, six suites, restaurants and function rooms; all with a distinctive Western Australian character.
The design brief called for 'contemporary and vibrant' front-of-house facilities including lobby, reception, lounge and public areas, function room, business centre and restaurant. Conversely, guest rooms were to be appreciated by visitors as a 'home away from home'.
While elegance and simplicity were created through the creative use of colours in the front-of-house facilities, an ambience of warmth and comfort was created in guest rooms through the use of timber and natural colours, finishes and furniture.
Woodhead undertook a total project role from design through to documentation and contract administration, including design, selection and scheduling for FF&E procurement.
