Kerrys NT Headquarters

Darwin, Northern Territory

With the sharp streamlined image of quality automotive interiors in mind, Woodhead International conceived a crisp and contemporary aesthetic within the existing framework of the former NCR Building in Darwin. To represent the progressive corporate image of Kerry's NT, the modernisation of the building was made to extend both inside and out.

Key elements to the brief were the necessary flexibility of space, access to natural light, and a comfortable relationship to the outside. With longevity and the tropical climate in mind, the client placed emphasis on choosing quality materials as part of their long-term investment in the building.

Provision of vehicular access into the main training area was a key consideration in order to utilise the facility for presentations and new vehicle model review sessions. Moveable panels screen and zone the training room from the reception area, with the flexibility to rotate the panels to secure the reception areas for after hours events.

The classic palette of finishes teams aluminium alucobond and leather together, creating a streamlined interior. An alucobond wall forms a division between the director's office and reception with a horizontal clear glass slot forming a visual link between the reception and office, segmented by the use of plywood panels.

Glass panels above the wall separate and define the spaces. Marble slabs enclose the reception counter working area with the horizontal crisp white counter plane extending from its sides. The final result demonstrates a workplace that is clean, modern and flexible.
