Woodhead were engaged by WSP to provide functional planning and design solutions for their long term office accommodation located at 1 Gardner Close, Milton.
The brief centred around:
- Re-planning for minor staff churn, to achieve greater space efficiencies;
- Rationalising filing storage capability;
- Improving staff facilities;
- Improving meeting facilities;
- Inclusion of ‘Green’ initiatives.
Our design concept was structured around refreshing the ‘core’ of the existing workplace and linking a series of previously isolated spaces (reception, meeting rooms & staff hub) into a defined contiguous space, that resonated the ‘WSP’ brand.
The new ‘Front of House’ design achieves a spaciousness that was previously absent and successfully provides a wider range of casual meeting spaces for WSP people and opportunities for them to engage with their clients.
The workplace transformation was achieved on a relatively modest budget and includes a ‘green wall’ to provide delicate screening to the entry space and the use of recycled timber to address sustainability issues and add a natural simplicity to the spaces.
