David Holm, Matt Findlay and Alex Nock have arrived in Venice to report back on what is arguable the most important international event on the contemporary architecture calendar.

Acting as Woodhead foreign correspondents, David, Matt and Alex will be covering events in Venice, commenting on key themes from the Pavillions and general outcomes from this biannual festival.

Beginning tomorrow, 26 August 2010, the three will be attending the official preview of Now and When: Australian Urbanism at The Australian Pavilion at Giardini di Castello. In 2010 the Pavilion was curated by renowned Australian photographer (and long time friend of Woodhead) John Gollings and architect Ivan Rijavec. The official preview will be hosted by Janet Holmes a Court AC, commissioner for the Australian Pavilion.

Throughout their stay in Venice David, Matt and Alex will be reporting daily on the Woodhead Magazine, updating us with photos, video footage and commentary of the events. David Holm is also being interview by Alan Saunders on the ‘By Design’ show on ABC National Radio whilst in Venice. Upon arrival back in Australia, David will also hosting a series of talks on the Biennale back in Sydney as part of both the Sydney Architecture Festival and the Sydney Italian Festival in October.

This year marks the 12th International Architecture Exhibition and has been directed by the winner of the 2010 Pritzker Architecture Prize, Kazuyo Sejima. Officially opening on 29 August 2010, events are held at the Giardini and at the Arsenale (preview August 26, 27 and 28, 2010), and in various other venues in Venice. Woodhead is an official sponsor of the Australian exhibition, in partnership with the Australian Institute of Architects.

Stay tuned over the next week for daily updates from Woodhead on the 2010 Venice Architecture Biennale.
