Earth Hour has rolled over again in 2011 bringing together millions of people around the world in support of action on climate change, and promoting the need for long-term sustainability. Woodhead and Living Edge took part in this global call for action, hosting Cocktails by Candlelight on Saturday 26 March.
Woodhead guests took part in the event, held at the Orbit Bar atop Australia Square in Sydney, to watch the lights turn out across the city. The Orbit Bar’s 360 degree rotation provided the ultimate view to watch Sydney over the hour-long blackout.
The event was a culmination of a month-long awareness campaign carried out by both Woodhead. By taking part in Earth Hour we are able to promote both an awareness of climate change and increase our focus on how as designers and architects we can play a part in a more sustainable future.
Woodhead are amongst thousands businesses in Australia who officially registered to support Earth Hour. This year marked the largest global involvement in Earth hour since it’s inception with the event taking place across over 130 countries.
The Earth Hour cocktail party presented Woodhead with the opportunity to share with clients and business associates our concern for the future of our environment and to demonstrate our commitment to creating sustainable design solutions.
