Congratulations to Vicki Jacobs in being awarded the Norman Disney & Young Outstanding Achievement In Design Award at the recent NAWIC Awards for Excellence held in Adelaide on 14 October 2010.
The Norman Disney & Young Outstanding Achievement In Design Award celebrates the achievements of an outstanding individual who has contributed to a construction project in the areas of engineering, architecture, urban or transport design.
Vicki Jacobs is a Registered Architect with 12 years experience, and has been an Associate at Woodhead for the past three years. Vicki performed the role of Project Architect for the Central Land Council (CLC) Headquarters in Alice Springs, which was completed in 2009. The project recently won two honours in the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) NT Chapter Awards in the categories of Sustainability and Commercial Architecture and is currently nominated in both the AIA National Awards (announced 28 October 2010) and Design Institute of Australia Awards (announced 11 November 2010).
As a demonstration of the CLC’s commitment to the environment, the new office building has been designed and constructed to achieve both a 4 Star Green Star Office Design rating (certified) and a 4 Star NABES Energy Base Building rating (preliminary only). As a Greenstar Accredited professional, Vicki Jacobs was integral in driving this process, in conjunction with Cundall Green Star Consultants. The CLC Headquarters is the first Green Star rated project in Alice Springs. Given the remoteness of the location and the extreme weather conditions, this is quite an achievement.
Woodhead is extremely proud of Vicki’s achievement and congratulates her on wining this prestigious award.

Congratulations Vicki, what a wonderful achievement.
