Woodhead has won the Award for Excellence for Professional and Business Excellence at the 2010 Business Awards Gala Dinner held in Sydney.
Announced on 8 October 2010 these prestigious awards, which recognise outstanding achievement, success and service, are bestowed upon companies who have contributed significantly to fostering business relations between Italy and Australia, while excelling in their own chosen field.
Woodhead is proud of it’s long-standing relationship with the Italian community in Australia and works actively to promote Italian design, business and culture. In 2010 Woodhead were silver sponsors of the Australian Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale, with staff travelling to Italy to experience the Biennale and report back (through various media channels) on their experiences. Woodhead staff also recently travelled to the Milan Furniture Fair with similar outcomes. The book ‘Drawing Italy’ promotes travel to Italy to explore the Italian culture and seminal western architecture of Italy. Through this book Woodhead is involved in many talks and events on such topics. Woodhead also has an office in Naples, with which we recently completed work Pompeii Railway Station and a high speed rail station in Naples with acclaimed international architect Zaha Hadid.
The awards, which are held each year, formed part of The Italian Chamber of Commerce Gala Ball, which was held at The Westin Sydney. Over 500 guests, from both business and politics, were in attendance for a gala evening that included a fashion parade featuring notable Australian fashion designers of Italian heritage including Nicola Finette and Aurelio Costarella. The awards were judged prior to the dinner by a panel comprising Marco Belgiorno-Zegna AM (Managing Director, Lidco Architectural Framing Systems), John Curtis (Chairman, Allianz Australia), Benedetto Latteri (Italian Consul General), Lyndon Terracini (Artistic Director, Opera Australia) and Carla Zampatti AC (Executive Chairman, Carla Zampatti).
The Italian Chamber of Commerce is committed to promoting and extending business relations between Australia and Italy. Since beginning in 1922, the Italian Chamber of Commerce has helped countless companies in both Italy and Australia succeed in business, has fostered a range of trade developments, and has helped relations between our two great countries grow.
