University of Adelaide moves into 10 Pulteney Street
Woodhead has recently completed the refurbishment of 10 Pulteney Street in Adelaide, ready in time for staff and students at the University of Adelaide to move in for the first semester of 2010. Woodhead was responsible for the Interiors of the project, whilst also working as Architects in Association with Denton Corker Marshall on the base building.
The University’s business, education and economics schools have relocated to their new home at 10 Pulteney Street following a $49 million refurbishment and interior fit-out of the building. The upgraded facility now houses Schools within the Faculty of the Professions including:
- the new Business School
- School of Education
- Executive Education
- School of Mathematical Sciences
The completed project provides staff and students with a contemporary environment for work and study, a central student service precinct, improved physical access for people with a disability and excellent common teaching areas. The design includes a new atrium at a ground level that would link the podium space to the tower and provide a circulate through the buildings. The facade to the north was revamped with a glass veil to allow greater light penetration into the spaces and demonstrated a number of ESD initiatives from solar collection, rain water harvesting and natural ventilation.
