Gold Coast City Council launched a design ideas competition for the Gold Coast Cultural and Civic Centre Masterplan in July 2009. Woodhead’s Adelaide studio has also taken this opportunity to develop a scheme called ‘The LOFT’.

Woodhead has been commissioned by Shell Development Australia (SDA) to design their new corporate fitout for their Perth offices located in the newly completed 2 Victoria Avenue. The Stockland building, also designed by Woodhead, features many significant sustainable elements which appeal the to the tenant’s environmental responsibilities.

Preliminary site work began on South Australia’s new Aquatic Centre and GP Plus Health Care Centre on Friday 16 October 2009. An official groundbreaking ceremony was held at the Marion site with over 250 guests attending, which included Federal Sports Minister, Kate Ellis, State Minister for Infrastructure, Pat Conlon, State Minister for Sport and Recreation, Michael Wright, and the City of Marion Mayor, Felicity-Ann Lewis.

Woodhead is part of the Abigroup team, which has been awarded the ‘Civil Contractor of the Year’ award for the Southern Regional Water Pipeline Alliance. This Major Award is part of the Master Builders Association of Queensland - Housing and Construction Awards 2009.

Construction is well underway on the Southern Cross University’s new Coolangatta campus. Woodhead is part of the team delivering two buildings as part of the new campus masterplan. Sited within the Gold Coast Airport Development Park, the first stage of the campus will be ready to receive students in February 2010.

Diamantina House was named after the wife of the former Governor of Queensland and was commissioned in 1889 as a birthing hospital. The heritage listed hostel building has had many uses over the years and sits adjacent to the historic Roma House in Spring Hill.
